  1. So what do you offer? What is PSD-to-HTML/CSS service?

We take designs (i.e. images which are prepared in Photoshop, Illustrator or other graphic software packages and respectively have *.PSD, *.AI, *.PNG, *.JPEG, etc formats) and convert them (in other words, slice and code) into a HTML/ HTML5/ CSS3 markup. That is why this service is often called as a PSD-to-HTML service. The resulting markup is W3C compliant, cross-browser compatible, hand-coded, and easy to modify.

  2. Who are customers of PSD to HTML services?

W3C is World Wide Web Consortium which approves the main Web standards including HTML, XML, etc. If your site is W3C valid, it means that the site meets W3C requirements as to XHTML/CSS coding. To put it simply, it is like a Quality Certificate for your website XHTML/CSS code.

    2. Who are customers of PSD to HTML services?

There are several main groups of customers widely leveraging design-to-markup conversion services:

    • Creative agencies,
    • Web design and Web development companies,
    • Independent graphic & web designers and freelancers,
    • Bloggers,
    • Networkers,
    • Owners of websites developed on the open source CMS platforms.
  3. 3. What if I need a blog theme/skin, shopping cart or CMS template?

We offer PSD to WordPress and PSD to CMS services to implement your designs as WordPress skins/themes, templates for Drupal, Joomla!, CMS Made Simple and others popular blog and CMS platforms.

  4. 4. What do I get using PSD to HTML/CSS services?

Please see our special article "20+ benefits of PSD-to-xHTML/CSS conversion services".

  5. 5. Are hand-coded HTML/CSS markups better?

Yes, in many cases handcrafted HTML/HTML5/CSS markups are tangibly better than those produced automatically by specialized software. That is why HTMLcut offers only manual HTML coding.

  6. 6. W3C valid markup - What does it mean?

W3C is World Wide Web Consortium which approves the main Web standards including HTML, XML, etc. If your site is W3C valid, it means that the site meets W3C requirements as to XHTML/CSS coding. To put it simply, it is like a Quality Certificate for your website XHTML/CSS code. As a first step in evaluating your site validity, you can use validator.w3.org and jigsaw.w3.org/CSS-validator/. For example, check XHTML validity and check CSS validity for HTMLcut.com.

  7. 7. SEO Semantic coding - Why do I need it?

HTML/HTML5 and CSS allow getting the same appearance of your webpage in different ways. Semantic coding implies that you mark up your website taking into account content meaning and HTML tag semantics: for example, headlines - with the help of <h1> tag ("h" in <h1> stands for "headline, heading") and so forth. As a result, your site is more accessible and search engine friendly; Google understands it better and ranks your website higher.

  8. 8. Do you design website layouts, blog backgrounds or logos?

Yes, we provide services which are complementary to PSD to HTML: design, JavaScript/AJAX programming, back end development, CMS implementation, mobile and responsive website development, and so forth.

  9. 9. What about a multiple page discount?

Secondary pages coding has a discount of 50%. For orders of 5 or more pages it will be further reduced. Also, we provide a discount for repeat orders.

  10. 10. Is your code cross-browser compatible?

Yes, we test markups in the following browsers:

    • Chrome
    • FireFox
    • Opera
    • Safari
    • IE 6+
  11. 11. What is the difference between PSD-to-HTML and PSD-to-XHTML conversion?

XHTML (eXtensible HTML) is the successor and modern extension of HTML (hypertext markup language, see also W3C site). Old versions of web browsers may not support XHTML. Correct development of HTML- and XHTML- compliant web pages requires different knowledge.
But the question has also a marketing aspect. "PSD to HTML" and "PSD to XHTML" are often used as synonyms in marketing materials. Among other phrases typical for PSD-to-HTML service advertisements are also as follows: 'Markup service', 'PSD 2 HTML', 'Design to markup', and so forth.

  12. 12. What about the difference between PSD-to-HTML and PSD-to-WordPress or PSD-to-CMS services?

If a PSD-to-HTML/CSS services provider offers PSD to WordPress or PSD to CMS conversion, it implies that they have specific experience and skills to develop WordPress themes or CMS templates. The problem is that blog platforms or content management systems (like Drupal, Joomla, etc.) have their own coding constraints and rules. The developers should be proficient with them in order to deliver quality markups.

  13. 13. Are PSD-to-HTML services the same as Web development?

In the broad sense Web development embraces PSD slicing and HTML/CSS coding. However there is a difference between, e.g., programming a server part of a web application and developing an HTML/CSS markup. Programs are all about "algorithms + data structure" (by Niklaus Wirth's definition), while HTML/CSS markups are about laying-out content and describing the document presentation (see also Five theories why developers write garbage HTML). From this point of view programming and HTML/CSS coding require their own specific skill sets and aptitudes. That is why some experts differentiate web programmers (PHP, .NET, etc) and HTML/CSS coders.

  14. 14. Why PSD-to-HTML/CSS services are so inexpensive?

There are two main reasons: economies of scale and local specifics. A PSD to HTML company has lower costs of production due to the optimized production process and narrow specialization of coders and managers which lead to higher efficiency. Local specifics is that average overhead costs (salaries, rent, etc) are different in different states / regions.

  15. 15. Do you give a refund if I'm not satisfied?

If you are really not pleased with our work, we will refund all the money paid us.

  16. 16. What currency do you work with?

All prices listed on this website are given in the U.S. dollars.

  17. 17. Do you provide an after-sale technical support?

Yes, we provide free 30 days code-level support for all PSD-to-HTML, PSD-to-WordPress, and PSD-to-CMS projects.
